So, on September 30th of 2013 Denny's announced that they were having a contest to find Middle Earth's greatest fan!!! The winner was able to go see the World Premiere of "The Desolation of Smaug". I was super excited about this because I had an awesome Hobbit themed project planned already and it would tie in nicely to this contest. You can see my blog post about that project here.
For this contest we were asked to upload a one-minute video demonstrating why we should be named Middle-earth’s greatest fan. These videos were put onto youtube.
The project I was working on involved painting 5 large scale paintings of Hobbit villains, including Smaug the Stupendous! I decided to film myself painting these and use some of the footage in my one minute film.
Now, I'm no videographer and I really was not expecting to win this contest but I loved the idea and I knew I had some cool stuff to put in the film. Since I'm no good an videography my video had... no sound. Yeah, I know that sounds pretty lame but we couldn't put any music that wasn't our own into the video so there was really nothing I could do. Though I had many difficulties putting my short little film together I was happy with how it turned out and I thought I would share it. You can enjoy my little film below!
I don't particularly like the term "Greatest Fan" because I think every fan has their own way of being the greatest in their fandom. I'd just like to say that I am a fan and I love doing things like this to show it!
And to anyone who wants more fun videos (and laughs) from the contest this was one of my favorites: Hobbit in a Song. They were semi-finalists. I honestly couldn't remember who the winner of the contest was though! There were some really good ones out there though!
